FAQs

How long does it take to make rosin?
From first heat to first drops in under 15 minutes.

Why is it hard to CRANK WHEN STARTING?
Because you did not wait long enough to let the material liquify and pressed it into the filters too soon.

Why is it hard to CRANK OUT WHEN cold.
The rosin from earlier extractions is sticky when cold.  Turn on, let warm as you prepare the material. Crank out when ready to load.

How do I know when it is finished?
WHEN TURNING DOES NOT ADVANCE THE CRANK AND DROPS ALMOST STOP.  TURN OFF AND WAIT. A FEW MORE DROPS WILL FIND THEIR WAY OUT.

How do I keep the plugs from EJECTING WHEN UNSCREWING the tip after use???
If difficult to unscrew tip after use, crank the handle open until it turns smoothly and easily open. Hold securely while twisting tip off with hand wrench. The plug may start to slide slowly out. WARNING plugs can shoot out if pressure has not been released!

How do I know if the O-ring is failed?
You may feel a sudden release of pressure if the o-ring or paper filters fail. Oil and material might be found on the crank when turned all the way out and turning the crank will be difficult. Crank all the way in until the oring becomes visible. Do not do another run if you find a missing 0-ring. Regularly checking the o-ring and replacing as due will eliminate this problem.

How much material can I put into the GEMSTX?
Depends on how compressible your material is and your technique. A little heat will require an extra input.

How do I know when it is done?
Twist wheel; wait.  Twist wheel; wait.  Twist wheel; wait. When no more movement  and no drops occur, do not force it further.

How do I change/install the paper filter?
It usually comes out with the plug/debris When it doesn’t carefully use a pointed object to extract the last part of the plug. If paper is stuck to wire screen carefully peal it away with a pointed object or place it in alcohol to clean.

How do I fix or clean it?
REMOVE TIP, CRANK PLUG ALL THE WAY OUT, REMOVE PLUG, WITHDRAW CRANK AND CLEAN TUBE WITH ALCOHOL. USE TISSUE or cotton SWAB stick.

How do i make extract to use in e-cig cartridge?
Use high heat for oily, relatively liquid output. Extract may be fluid with high heat. With low heat output is harder and crystallizes.

What is the yield?
Garbage in / good out; good in best out. Yields will vary from 0 – 25% with dried flowers,   35% to 75% with concentrates depending on the quality of the concentrate.

Can I use flowers?
Yes, by packing the chamber with flowers and waiting longer for material to warm.

How does it make glassy gem like rosin?
By removing all the particles.

Can I rosin press a fresh bud?

The simple answer is, yes, you can. However, we strongly advise against this method. There are several significant reasons which suggest that using fresh buds in rosin pressing might not yield the most desirable results. So, let’s explore these reasons and understand why you might want to avoid using fresh bud for your rosin pressing endeavors.

The Downside to Fresh Bud: Now, why might pressing fresh bud be problematic?

  1. High Water Content: Freshly harvested cannabis buds have high moisture content. When pressed, this water can turn into steam, which can affect the consistency and quality of the rosin. The steam can cause the rosin to sputter and can dilute the end product, reducing its potency.
  2. Lack of Decarboxylation: Fresh bud has not undergone decarboxylation, a process that activates the THC in cannabis. Without this, your rosin will have lower potency and may not produce the desired effects.
  3. Lower Yield: Fresh cannabis often produces a lower yield when pressed because the water content takes up more space. As a result, you get less rosin and more waste.

The Ideal Bud: Instead of fresh bud, it’s better to press cured and properly dried cannabis. This minimizes moisture content, activates the THC through decarboxylation, and typically results in higher yields and more potent rosin.
